Lupus and Light Sensitivity
Systemic lupus erythematosus is a multi-system disease with a tendency to cause skin rashes. These often appear on light exposed skin after exposure to sunlight. About 60% of lupus patients get sun-induced rashes and a further 10-20% complains of other clearly sun- induced problems. For more information, please visit Lupus website: http://www.lupusuk.org.uk
Certain types of sunscreen are available on prescription for people with sun-induced disease like lupus. One such preparation is Uvistat Sun Cream, which is available in sun protection factor (SPF) 30 and 50, and also in a SPF 50 lip screen preparation which is the only lip sun protection product available in the UK on prescription. |
